Steve qualified from London University in 1979 and joined Park Issa in 1982, after short periods working in Somerset and Lancashire. Steve enjoys spending time with his wife Jane, three children and two dogs, Molly and Poppy.
RANDOM FACT: Steve’s claim to fame is that his wife Jane used to be a “living doll” for Princess Anne.
Karen joined Park Issa as a vet in 1984. She mainly looks after the companion animal side of the practice and has a special interest in Cardiology. Karen has recently undertaken a Certificate in Small Animal Medicine.
Outside of work, Karen takes part in triathlons as a hobby and enjoys campervan holidays with her husband and dogs Flo and Molly.
RANDOM FACT: Karen enjoys outdoor swimming. Her favourite place to swim is in Dearnford Lake.
Chris qualified from Liverpool University in 1988 and has been at Park Issa since 1995. As a mixed animal vet he splits his time between farms and companion animals. Chris recently gained the GP Certificate in Small Animal Surgery and is now studying for the GP Certificate in Ophthalmology, a subject he is very interested in.
Outside of work he enjoys walking his dogs, cycling and horse riding.
RANDOM FACT: Chris enjoys tandem cycling while on holiday with his partner.
Hans joined the practice in 2005 and is mainly working on the farm animal side. He particularly enjoys lambing time and doing fertility work in cattle.
When he is not working he enjoys gardening and birdwatching.
RANDOM FACT: Hans dug out his own wildlife pond using only a spade.
Lucy graduated from Edinburgh University in 2007 and has been with Park Issa ever since. She is mainly out on farm and loves calving and lambing time but enjoys occasional small animal work to escape the dreaded TB testing.
In her spare time Lucy enjoys walking and cycling in the countryside as well as travelling, baking and reading. However, she can often be found feeding calves, milking cows or measuring grass on her partner’s dairy farm. Lucy has a rescue cat, 2 sheep and half a dozen dairy cows.
RANDOM FACT: Lucy has a chainsaw qualification and used to work in forestry.
Zoe joined the practice in October 2014. Originally from West Sussex, she went to University of Edinburgh and is now well settled in Oswestry. Zoe works with both farm animals and small animals and is particularly interested in young stock health and management as well as rabbit medicine.
Outside of work she is an active member of Whittington and Oswestry Young Farmers and loves competing in their yearly drama performances. She also enjoys walking her dogs Pip and Max.
In November 2016 Zoe is travelling to Australia for a working holiday, she will be looking after dairy cows and small animals on the other side of the world. She has promised to keep us updated and will be back here in June 2017.
RANDOM FACT: Zoe is trained in both musical theatre and Saxophone.
Linda qualified from Liverpool University in 1983 and joined Park Issa in 1993. She works on the small animal side of the practice and has a keen interest in small animal surgery. Linda has recently attended surgical master classes in thoracic and urinary incontinence surgery, and has a post graduate certificate in radiography.
Linda lives on a small holding, with horses, sheep, cats and dogs. In her spare time she enjoys horse riding, skiing, painting and playing the piano.
RANDOM FACT: Linda first came to Park Issa for her work experience when she was just 14 years old.
Angharad qualified from London University in 2002. Originally from Abergele in North Wales she worked in various mixed practices in North Wales and Shropshire before joining Park Issa in September 2008. Angharad works on the small animal side of the practice in both Oswestry and Johnstown and has a soft spot for Greyhounds. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her 2 daughters.
RANDOM FACT: Angharad is a keen supporter of the anti-fracking movement and can regularly be found at their camps in the local area.
Lucy qualified at Glasgow University in 1991. She worked in North Wales and Staffordshire, gaining a certificate in Small Animal Surgery. She has worked part time at Park Issa since August 2000. When not working she enjoys time on the vegetable plot or spending time with her children and their various hobbies. She has two lively collies, Bobby and Benji, and Kitty the cat!
Ruth qualified from Liverpool in 2002. Working in various places including Devon, Ireland, Dubai and for the last 7 years around beautiful North Wales and Shropshire Borders. She has a mixed practice back ground with a strong farm animal bias. She also helps her parents on their farm on the outskirts of Oswestry. She has been a locum at Park Issa since January 2015 helping us on both the farm animal and small animal sides.
Ruth enjoys fighting, gardening, nice food and wine. She loves her husband ‘Dylan’ and cat ‘Donkey’ very much as well.
RANDOM FACT: Ruth fought in a professional rules Thai Boxing match in Bangkok and won by TKO in round 2.
Kim joined the practice in October 2016. She works mainly on the farm side but does enjoy her work with the small animals as well. Kim comes from a sheep farming background so particularly enjoys lambing time.
As well as being a vet (which takes up most of her time) Kim enjoys travelling the world, recently visiting Australia and South East Asia. In her spare time Kim likes to bake and also likes going to the gym to work off her baking efforts.
RANDOM FACT: Kim is a keen horse rider and when horses are not available has been known to ride water buffalo.
Michelle joined Park Issa in January 2005 and qualified as a Veterinary Nurse in 2008, stepping up to Head Nurse in 2009. She is a trained Pet Health Counsellor, Pet Insurance Advisor and is also a clinical coach for our student nurses. Michelle has a keen interest in native birds. In her spare time Michelle enjoys shopping, listening to music and spending time with her dogs.
RANDOM FACT: Michelle is fluent in the Welsh Language.
Emma joined the practice in 2008 as a trainee Veterinary Nurse. She became a qualified Veterinary Nurse from Myerscough College in January 2012. Emma loves all types of animals, and enjoys helping out at her mum’s boarding kennels, walking her dogs and generally helping out! Emma also enjoys spending time at home with her beautiful baby, Harriet, cat, Annie and dog, Snoop.
RANDOM FACT: Snoop is famous as a video of him rocking Harriet went viral.
Vikki officially joined the team in 2012 following the completion of her degree at Harper Adams University. Since qualifying Vikki has gone on to become a trained Petplan advisor, diabetes advisor and a clinical coach. Vikki hopes to continue to train new nurses as well as learning more about Veterinary Physiotherapy.
When not working Vikki enjoys spending time with her three nieces and nephew, her border collie Ben and her cat Trixie. Vikki also helps out on her partner’s dairy farm, where she has a cow named Dot.
RANDOM FACT: Vikki was born with Bilateral Talipes, also known as Club Feet.
Katie joined Park Issa in 2015. She had already started her veterinary nurse training and should complete her training this year. Katie looks forward to developing her role and becoming a clinical coach so she can help other students with their training. She is a trained Petplan advisor and loves nurse consultations as a great way to meet all of our clients and see a wide range of animals.
Outside of work Katie enjoys spending time with her two Labradors Millie and Tweed and her cat Joey (adopted from Park Issa).
RANDOM FACT: When Katie was a little girl she went through a stage of only wanting to go in the bath if it was with her pet dog.
Leah joined the team at Park Issa in 2015 and started her training to be a veterinary nurse in August 2015. During her time here she has become a trained Petplan advisor and is a First Aider. Leah particularly enjoys kitten and puppy chats, helping the newest member of your family to settle in.
Outside of work Leah enjoys open water swimming and socialising with family and friends.
RANDOM FACT: Leah’s dog Molly has her own life jacket for open water swimming with her owner.
Georgia joined our nursing team in October 2016 as our newest student veterinary nurse. She has worked with animals since leaving college and decided to follow her passion into nursing.
Georgia enjoys working with all the animals that come into the practice but has a soft spot for dogs and has 3 beautiful dogs herself, a Chocolate Labrador called Ted, a Basset Hound called Nelly and a German Pointer called Holly.
In her spare time she enjoys working on her partners family farm, and the occasional holiday abroad. Georgia enjoys horse riding and long walks with her dogs.
Karen began her career in Veterinary Nursing in 2001 working in Yorkshire, moving to Blackburn and then to the Oswestry area. Karen qualified in 2008, as well as completing her A1 Assessors Award, allowing her to train student veterinary nurses and joined Park Issa in August 2015. She has a keen interest in exotics as well as consulting but is a good all rounder.
Karen spends her spare time with her husband and 2 young children. She has 2 guinea pigs, Lola and Poppy, a canary, Percy, aquarium fish and pond fish as well as 2 African Dwarf Frogs, Gary and Barry. Karen also enjoys walking, swimming, reading and baking (her Nutella Cheesecake is a particular favourite of ours).
RANDOM FACTS: Karen also works as a support and lease assistant for a housing charity.
Jane joined Park Issa in 2006 and trained as a Veterinary Care Assistant. Jane is known in work as the cat whisperer as she has a calming influence on the cats that find the vets a stressful place to be. Whilst at Park Issa Jane has inherited 2 dogs, Alfie and Poppy to go along with her cat Daisy.
When not at work Jane enjoys spending time with her family and is also a keen Wrexham Football Club supporter, never missing a game.
RANDOM FACT: Jane loves making novelty cakes. (And we love eating them.)
Kerry joined the practice in May 1986. Although she mainly works in accounts she enjoys her time spent on the small animal reception desk every morning and her chats with the farmers whilst serving them. Kerry is often found organising and taking part in events to raise money for charities, especially Mental Health Research UK, with our yearly Blooming Monday in memory of Mark Robinson M.R.C.V.S.
When not at work Kerry enjoys travelling around the UK and Europe on her Honda Goldwing 1800cc and walking her amazing dog Maddie. (You can often meet Maddie during the middle of the week as she comes to work with her mum.)
RANDOM FACT: Kerry goes to the gym every weekday morning at 6am.
Carol joined the practice in 2001 after 25 years of sheep and dairy farming. Although very knowledgeable about farming she works on the small animal reception and particularly enjoys cuddling the wonderful puppies that come in to the practice.
When not in work Carol is often found supporting the Widnes Vikings rugby team, and is a proud owner of a season ticket, following the club both home and away. As well as being a massive fan of Rugby League, Carol also enjoys hill walking (with a target of 1000 miles this year) and swimming. Carol has a border collie called Lyn and two cats, Nessa and George.
RANDOM FACT: Carol was a veterinary nurse in Leeds for 6 1/2 years before moving to Oswestry.
Paula joined the team in 2012. She works in accounts, on both the small animal and large animal receptions. When not at work Paula loves spending time with her two horses, Tango and Alfie and her two sheep Doris and Betty, as well as her dog Ollie and cat Wilson.
RANDOM FACT: Paula has an honours degree in Religious Studies.
Sara joined Park Issa in 2013. Since being at the practice Sara has enjoyed the way her job role has developed and has a particular interest in social media and the website. Sara really enjoys seeing the animals that come in to the practice, especially the cats, and is often referred to by her colleagues as the “crazy cat lady”.
When not at work Sara loves spending time with her four cats Lucifer, Mortisha, Ares and Pestilence (and is always happy to show photos of them). Sara also loves to read and has a book collection of well over 500 books, and enjoys going to the cinema.
RANDOM FACT: Sara has two tattoos and is in the process of getting a back piece done.
Pam initially joined the practice in 2014 to cover maternity leave at the New Foundry branch. She can now be found at our Oswestry branch working in both the farm office and small animal reception.
Pam has a black Labrador called Harley, a Border Terrier called Vincent and three cats (all rescued) Lara, Biggles and Jimmy. In her spare time she enjoys travelling with her husband, both home and abroad in her VW Campervan accompanied by the well travelled Harley and Vincent. She also enjoys riding her Harley Davidson motorcycle.
RANDOM FACT: Vincent appeared on the Channel 4 Fern Britton Show, where he enjoyed being treated like a celebrity for the day.
Julie joined the New Foundry team when we first opened the branch in Johnstown. Well known for her bubbly personality and smiling face when visiting the branch she is well liked by all our clients. In her spare time Julie enjoys spending time with her family.
Becky joined Park Issa in 2009 and works at the New Foundry branch. Whilst working in Johnstown Becky enjoys the wide variety of clients that she meets with their pets.
In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family and going for days out with her son Theo. Becky also supports Liverpool Football Club going with her partner to watch them.
RANDOM FACT: Becky is a qualified hairdresser.
Jules became one of our reception team in January 2016 and is based in our New Foundry branch.
She enjoys spending time with her family and when she is able she likes to get her hands dirty doing a spot of gardening, where her cat Ralph keeps one eye on her and his other eye on the 25 fish in their pond.
RANDOM FACT: Jules owns and drives an original 1944 Willys MB Jeep which she helped restore with her fiancé. They often attend Charity events with it for Help the Heroes and the Poppy Appeal.
Chris joined Park Issa in 2015, to start he worked at Park Issa on a Saturday but has since started working at the New Foundry branch as a receptionist. Chris is an active environmental campaigner and in his spare time can be found walking around Duddleston with his cat Ollie.
RANDOM FACT: Chris’ first dog “Chang” was found as a stray in South Africa, in 1984 by his mother.
