Schmallenberg Vaccine now licensed!!!
MSD Animal Health has received a Provisional Marketing Authorisation for their vaccine against Schmallenberg Virus (SBV). SBV is transmitted mainly by midges, and causes short term symptoms in adult cattle and sheep, such as fever, diarrhoea and reduced milk yield, as well as congenital deformities in newborn calves and lambs.
Cattle can be vaccinated from 2 months of age and will need 2 doses, 4 weeks apart. Sheep only need one dose and can be vaccinated from 4 months of age.
We are hoping to be able to get some vaccine in stock by mid June, but will keep you updated as we find out more.
