Reception
This is our main reception area. It was refurbished in 2001 and has air conditioning added in 2006. Our reception is manned mainly by our 2 dedicated receptionists who are helped occasionally by our qualified nursing staff. Our client records are completely computerised with two terminals in reception and automated label and invoice printing.
|
Waiting Area
Our waiting area features a variety of displays for pet foods/life stage diets and pet healthcare products. We also have notice boards all around the area and these are changed regularly to highlight current issues. There is a set of electronic scales which we encourage clients to use to monitor their pets weight. We also have a separate small waiting area which can be used by clients with nervous pets.

Operating Theatre
We have a dedicated operating theatre equipped with the latest equipment and fully qualified staff. Only sterile surgical procedures are carried out in here and it has an active ventilation system to prevent airborne contamination of surgical wounds. Our patient’s anaesthesia is monitored using pulse oximetry a non-invasive medical device used to help determine the blood oxygen levels of the patient.
|
Prep Room
This is where animals are prepared for the operating theatre and a variety of minor non-sterile procedures are carried out such as dentals, ultrasound scans and abscess lancing. In the prep room we have piped anaesthetic gas, a modern dental table, ultrasonic scaler and polisher and a hydraulic examination table so animals can walk onto the table minimising stressful lifting.

Consulting Rooms
We have 2 consulting rooms for the vets at Park Issa fully equipped for a complete examination, with cantilevered tables to increase space in the room for larger dogs, auroscope and opthalmoscope, x-ray viewer and computer terminal for instant access to clinical records. We also have a third consulting room retaining some of the original architectural features of Park Issa which is used as the nurses consulting room.

Park Issa Garden
Our spacious and well-kept garden at the rear of the Park Issa Vet Hospital is a beautiful area and is ideally suited for exercising our in-patients. And this is a task greatly enjoyed by both the Staff and the animals in our care especially during the Summer when the garden is in its prime

Kennels
We have a spacious kennel area with Shoreline kennels for small and medium sized pets and 2 large "walk in" kennels for our larger dogs. There is also a second set of electronic scales. Vet beds are used in all kennels for comfort and we are happy to use the pets own bed/bedding if owners feel it increases their pets comfort, especially for longer stay cases. A nurse is on duty in the kennels at all times to minimise soiling from the sick animals and closely observe anaesthetic recovery. Our kennel area has its own kitchen area for preparation of food for patients with microwave and washing machine/tumble driers. We also have a separate isolation kennel area for pets with infectious conditions.
|
Radiography Room
This is where are patients are x-rayed. Our x-ray machine is capable of taking radiographs of our smallest and largest patients. The table is fitted with a Bucky unit to improve the quality of the x-rays. Processing of x-rays is done in an automatic processor allowing x-ray processing of the highest quality within minutes of taking the shot.

Large Animal Reception
This is where our farm animal clients come in to pick up medicines, over the counter advice and to pay their bills! We keep the noticeboards current, with topics of interest and there is often a copy of our latest newsletter available on the counter. Attached to the reception is "Judy's Office" which is the "nerve centre" of the large animal side of the practice, – all the farm visits being coordinated here.

Large Animal Unit-lambing Area
The whole unit was refurbished in early Spring 2006. This front part of the building is where we do our lambing’s/ ewe caesareans and calf operations. The electric consulting table is strong enough to lift 150kg calves and can go right down to the floor.
|
Large Animal Unit-Calf Pens
At the rear of the unit is the calf pens used for in patients such as dehydrated calves on drip feeds. The building has upstairs storage space and also houses our power washer with disinfectant capacity for the vet’s cars, an important biosecurity tool.
